The Journey With God Bible Studies are a guide that was created to help people understand how to follow the way of Jesus in their daily lives, while living in community with other believers.

Introduction

“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:20 NIV

The Bible is full of amazing promises, but this might be the best of them all. Life with Jesus truly is a beautiful journey. Jesus doesn’t just want you to believe in him, he wants you to walk with him.

These Bible studies are simply a helpful guide to help you walk with Jesus and the community he’s given us to go on this journey with.

Life change is an interactive, roll-up-your-sleeves, and get messy process. It is a  journey of self-reflection, Holy Spirit inspiration, deep wrestling and surrender. It is a process of discovering ourselves in true community, and discovering God as he pierce’s through the layers of the heart. Give Him access. Go deep. It’s worth the trip.

If you’re up for it, grab your Bible and a friend, and let’s get started.

01

Starting Point

"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you-unless, of course, you fail the test?" - 2 Corinthians 13:5 NIV

We all begin our Journey with God in different places, and for different reasons. The Starting Point study helps us to talk through why we want to walk with God, and how we can start our journey off on the right foot.

02

Seeking God

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." - Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

The Bible is God’s Word written for us. It was recorded by humans under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is without any error and is completely true and applicable to our daily lives. The Seeking God study helps us to see the story of the Bible that not only are we called to seek God with all our hearts, but God has been seeking after us in love.

03

Authentic Discipleship

As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." At once they left their nets and followed him. - Mark 1:16-18 NIV

Jesus calls his disciples to follow him and bring others along on the journey. The call of discipleship is a high calling and a high cost. However, it is totally worth it. In the Authentic Discipleship study we will discuss this amazing, life changing call to follow Jesus, and how we can do this in our daily lives.

04

Church

"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit." - Ephesians 2:19-22 NIV

We are not meant to be on this journey alone. Not only are we given the Holy Spirit to guide us, but we are also given a community of people to partner with and walk with as God continues to build His Kingdom. In the Church study we will discuss the importance of walking with others, and how we can build deep, Christ centered community.

05

Sin & Repentance

"Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation- if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant." - Colossians 1:21-23 NIV

Every journey will have obstacles and hinderances. The great obstacle of our journey with God is the sin in our lives. We all have it, the only perfect one was Jesus. The amazing thing is that by following Jesus, and walking in community with other believers, we can experiencing life-giving change. The Sin & Repentance study will help us talk through those obstacles we face, and see how Jesus can change our hearts back to him.

06

Biblical Salvation

"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." - 2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation. Therefore, salvation is a gift from God and cannot be earned through our own efforts. If we believe in Jesus and want to receive this gift, we are called to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of our sins. We also receive the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comforts and guides every disciple of Jesus. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He gives us spiritual gifts and makes us more like Christ.

07

Lordship

Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said:"If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple."Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, 'This person began to build and wasn't able to finish.' - Luke 14:25-30 NIV

We have been invited by Jesus to follow him and become his disciples. We make him the Lord of our lives and embrace the journey of becoming more like him everyday. As a result, the church is a community of baptized believers unified through faith in Jesus. It is committed to the teachings of Christ, obeying all of his commands, and bringing the Gospel to the world. The church works together in love and unity to glorify Jesus and make disciples of all nations.
